The Stack Brothers Didn't Just Choose a Pub - They Grew Up In One
|

| Stack's Pub, Charleville Co. Cork |
For some, opening a restaurant is a lark. For others, a dream. For the
Stacks, it's a family tradition. Tom and Garry Stack, along with their
brother Mort and sister Norah, grew up over Stack's Pub in Charleville,
Co. Cork, Ireland. Their parents, Tom and Peg Stack, opened the bar and
lounge in 1953, and spent the next 40 years growing a business and raising
a family on Main Street.
Tom and Garry Stack, both graduates of Rockwell College Culinary School,
spent years working as chefs in Ireland and Europe, finally deciding
to make America their home. When Garry and Tom arrived in America, their
work ethic and determination carried them through years of working in
various fine restaurants in Washington and New York while they searched
for a place of their own. On January 20, 2001, Inauguration Day, the
doors of the Irish Channel Restaurant & Pub opened.

Grand Opening 2001

On February 21, 2001, Tom and Peg Stack traveled from Ireland to be here
for the Grand Opening and see their sons carry on the family business,
and see the sign from their own pub displayed in its place of honor
behind the bar.
On March 5, 2006, the Stack Brothers enjoyed their second Grand Opening
at their new location, Irish Channel Crofton. In the midst of old friends
and new, great music and laughter, and, of course, wonderful food,
the boys knew they had another "new home".
Come visit the Irish Channel, and see the difference history can make.
